The Polyurethane Group, a division of Textile Rubber & Chemical Company, began as a new division in 1975, and now has over a 30 year history offering a variety of products built on polyurethane polymer technology.
Innovation has been the key to the division’s remarkable growth. The initial effort was in Floorcoverings and in 1978 a patent was granted on a method of applying a chemically blown liquefied polyurethane to the back of residential carpet in a continuous process, something which had never been done before. The result was an attached polyurethane cushion for residential carpets called KangaBACK. Since 1975, hundreds of millions of yards of Kanga attached polyurethane backings have been produced and sold worldwide.
After the revolutionary introduction of KangaBACK, additional residential polyurethane floor-covering products evolved, then chemistries and products in other fields were introduced. Attached cushions were developed for the commercial carpet markets along with new polyurethane chemistries for commercial use. Many of our products are produced around the world under license agreements with long time customers.
Some key introductions:
- KangaHYDE attached cushions for residential and light commercial carpets.
- KangaGOLD attached cushions for upscale residential carpets.
- KangaTRAC attached cushions for commercial carpets.
- EPIC-18* – a certified environmentally friendly commercial attached cushion
- KangaCushion - premium polyurethane cushions for shoe insoles.
- Sport Surface Coatings - Polyurethane coatings/products for tennis courts, golf mats and synthetic turf fields.
- Polyurethane high performance coatings for carpets and modular tiles.
- Polyurethane run-flat tire technology
- Energy absorbing visco-elastic polyurethane technology
*The Polyurethane Group is fully committed to the LEEDS Environmental Management System. The KangaTRAC and EPIC -18 commercial polyurethane backings are certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) and contain 18% and 30% of post consumer recycled material respectively, plus 10% of a renewable resource material.
With an unsurpassed dedication to product development, innovative processing techniques and two fully equipped and staffed laboratories, the Polyurethane Group promises a continuing leadership role in working with this remarkable polymer. |
