Textile Rubber and Chemical Company (TRCC) has been an innovator in carpet backing technology for more than 55 years, and is recognized as an industry leader today. In 2005 TRCC launched the ThermoTex Division in response to the floor covering industry’s demand for recyclable, sustainable, environmentally friendly backing systems for broadloom and modular carpets.

  • ThermoTex has developed unique thermoplastic proprietary polymers and process technologies to produce high performance, energy efficient, recyclable backing systems for carpet, modular carpet tiles, rugs, automotive carpets, mats, and other backings for textiles requiring environmentally responsible backing systems.

  • ThermoTex backing systems do not require a latex precoat. They provide excellent wet and dry tuft bind performance, and excellent Velcro performance. Because latex is not used, the processes are very energy and cost efficient.

  • ThermoTex backings are thermoplastic, and recyclable. As such, the entire carpet or carpet tile composite can be successfully recycled back into a carpet backing system.

  • ThermoTex backing systems can weigh up to 1/3 less than conventional backing systems. The result is lower consumption of raw material resources used to make the carpet or carpet tile. There is also an ergonomic benefit for installers along with fuel and energy savings in the logistics of distributing carpet and modular carpet products.

In addition to manufacturing recyclable carpet backing system polymers and technology, the ThermoTex Division also has a two meter wide custom coating and laminating line. We provide custom coating and laminating services to meet our customer’s specifications with a variety of thermoplastic compounds and substrates.
